Football Shaker Noise Makers
With fall comes football! Kids all over the country will be donning pads and helmets and playing the great American sport we’ve come to love so much. Parents and siblings of football kids love to cheer on their team, and noise makers have become a big part of that yearly tradition.
Over the years we’ve gone as simple as a plastic water bottle and handful of dried beans and called it good, but this year why not deck out those cheer helpers with your team’s colors?
In case you’re wondering why I added the sticks: it makes them easy to store by stacking them all together in a container, and helps get the noisemaker higher above your head. Less noise in your ear, and more noise out toward the team!
For this project you will need:
- Empty plastic water bottles
- Duct tape in team colors
- Paint stir sticks
- Dried beans
- Foil confetti
- Jingle bells (optional)
- Tools: Self-healing cutting mat, craft knife, funnel
Cover each paint stick completely with duct tape.
Add a child-sized handful of dried beans to each empty bottle. Use the funnel to add some confetti.
Note: If you would like to add a jingle bell, now is the time!
Put the lid back on the bottle. Cut a strip of duct tape and wrap it around the lid.
Wrap a strip of duct tape around the center of the water bottle, enclosing the paint stick in the tape as well. Use two strips to ensure the handle is secure.
That’s it! Now go to the game and shake, shake, shake!
