Kix Cereal

Cottontail Kix Easter Snack

Oh no! It looks like lots and lots of bunnies lost their tails. This white cheddar Kix Easter snack is crunchy, bold, and super easy to mix up in mere minutes. Serve at a party or Easter brunch with tailless bunnies perched on the edge of the cup. I’m sure at least one of the cottontails in the cup is theirs.

To make white cheddar cottontail Kix Easter snack

You will need:

Kix cereal
White cheddar seasoning powder*
Butter
Large, microwave-safe bowl
Baking tray
Parchment or wax paper

*Find the white cheddar seasoning powder in the popcorn aisle of the supermarket.

You may also need (optional):

This bunny printable
Color printer
Letter-size, white cardstock paper
Scissors
Glue stick
Paper cups

Line the baking tray with a piece of parchment or wax paper and set aside. Place 2 tablespoons of butter in the microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, or just until fully melted.

Melt butter in microwave-safe bowl

Stir in 2 cups of Kix cereal and stir until evenly coated with the butter.

Coat Kix with melted butter

Pour the cereal mixture on the baking tray and spread the cereal in a single layer. Sprinkle with 1 to 2 tablespoons of the white cheddar powder.

Sprinkle Kix with white cheddar popcorn topping

For even “fluffier” tails and a bolder flavor, sprinkle generously with additional white cheddar powder. TIP: Kids can help at this step. Have them roll the cereal with the palms of their hands to evenly coat the cheese powder.

Let the cereal dry and package as desired. Keep in a sealed container.

Yields: 2 cups. I worked with only 2 cups of cereal at a time to make the stirring and sprinkling manageable. But you may need to make additional batches, especially as you might not be able to stop munching on these.

Serving suggestion:

Print this printable on cardstock paper. Cut out each bunny. Glue a bunny set together, front and back, gluing only the ears and head of the bunny. Leave the bottom part of the bunny un-glued. Fill cups with cottontail Easter snack mix and perch the bunny on the edge of the cup facing out.

How to use the bunny printable

Cut. Glue top half. Secure to plastic or paper cup.
