Cardboard Tube Stackers

Cardboard is, single-handedly, one of the best things that you can recycle into an awesome crafting material. It comes is so many shapes and sizes, and you’ll find you use them in so many every day things: cereal boxes, toilet paper tubes, paper towels, moving boxes … The list goes on and on!

Here’s one way to get super crafty with this recyclable gem: DIY cardboard tube stackers! With just a few cuts, your kids can build awesome structures galore.

You will need:

A bevy of cardboard tubes (toilet paper rolls, paper towels or old gift wrapping tubes will work)

Scissors

Cereal box slats (optional)

Paint or markers for decoration (optional)

Cut about a 1/2″ to 1″ notch into the side of the tube.

TIP: If you are using a longer tube, like a paper towel roll) you’ll want to make the notches at either end of the tube. For toilet paper rolls, you may want to make just one notch in the middle. Cereal boxes are great for using as roofs if you’re making a building. Cut these as you see fit. These are just our recommendations, always feel free to experiment!

If you want to add a little color, use the paint or markers for decoration. Just make sure to give them a little time to dry before using.
